她在《Engineering Geology》《Computers and Geotechnics》《Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment》等国际权威期刊发表论文60余篇,其神经网络边坡稳定性预测的开创性论文被引逾350次。她现任《Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment》《Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology》《Journal of Machine Learning and Data Science in Geotechnics》等期刊编委,并曾代表南非担任国际土力学与岩土工程学会(ISSMGE)热带土与残积土技术委员会(TC107)委员。

Dr. Maria Ferentinou is a associate professor in Geotechnics at the School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), UK, affiliated with the BEST (Built Environment and Sustainable Technologies) Research Institute. She holds a BSc degree from the University of Patras, Greece, and a PhD in Engineering Geology from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Before joining LJMU, she served as Associate Professor and Head of Department at the University of Johannesburg, and as a Lecturer in Rock Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Dr. Ferentinou has been engaged in data-centric geotechnics since the early 2000s and pioneered the application of artificial neural networks to slope stability assessment, with her seminal work cited more than 350 times. Her research spans landslide susceptibility mapping, geohazard risk assessment, rock engineering systems, and unsaturated soils and ground deformation monitoring. In recent years, she has devoted her efforts to geohazard monitoring and early warning technologies integrating remote sensing and fiber optic sensing, including FBG-based monitoring of slope instability and sinkhole evolution, and to climate-resilient assessment and design of geotechnical infrastructure. She has published more than 60 papers in leading international journals such as Engineering Geology, Computers and Geotechnics, and Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment. She serves on the editorial boards of the Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology, and the Journal of Machine Learning and Data Science in Geotechnics, and previously represented South Africa on the ISSMGE Technical Committee TC107 on Tropical and Residual Soils. She is a Chartered Geologist (CGeol) and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and a registered Professional Natural Scientist in South Africa.
